Hi, who are you?
I´m Craig, 22 years old. I did a project for H&M at my university which involved denim and that led to an internship at H&M. I like to express myself through fashion.
Why did you choose to do an internship at H&M?
I have always loved H&M. It´s affordable and good quality, a caring company! The internship will help me to progress.
Tell us what you do as an intern at H&M?
I do mood-boards, some designing, attend meetings and fittings and flat sketches after fitting. It’s quite a lot of responsibility.
What was the biggest surprise during the program?
How much respect and responsibility you get. You really feel like a part of the team. My team treats me as an equal, my opinion is valued and you get involved.
What was your biggest challenge during the internship?
To become faster in Illustrator.
What was the best part of your internship?
I’ve learnt so much and I really felt at home and valued.
Do you feel that H&M has prepared you for your future career?
For sure, in school you don’t learn about the business and what to think about when designing for a company; what is selling, what the customer wants, thinking the whole process from idea to final garment in a store.
Any advice for future interns?
Don’t be afraid to speak up. Your team will listen to you and also explain if you need support.
